My Dyslexia

Having the skill to write, spell, and punctuate has never been my strong suit. Growing up as a young child I was always nurtured to be creative and artistic which came naturally to me but I could never quite grasp written language. I now know that it's a learning disabilty with a name: DYSLEXIA.

I write from the heart and I make my best effort to get the words on the page properly but as you'll see I don't always succeed. I ask you to enjoy what I write and post but to be understanding and kind. Brian

Thinking of a friend

I just wanted you all to know my Heart goes out to my dear friend Chris Ophsal and her mom Gert. They lost her older brother and son in a car accident on the afternoon of last Sunday , I know the viewing is today and the funeral is tomorrow. We are all thinking about Chris and her Mother Gert, the honoree from the High Tea.

We all wish you peace in your up and coming days.
The sun will shine again, and i want you to know you will always have good friends to get you through, love to you and all of yours.

Tea Time For Gert

Here is a group of my dearest friends at a high tea honoring our dear friend, Gert Brown. She was in town for the day from South Bend, and we surprised her with a tea at my studio, with the table setting made of french papers, wire, photo imaging, and a little creative flair.

Plates made for each guest with their photo image applied on the back created a great setting.

The menu consisted of watercress and goat cheese sandwiches, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, two kinds of chicken salad (curry & regular,) fresh fruit, clotted cream and scones with lemon curd caringly made by Kevin.

If you look closely, or tap on the picture to blow it up, you can see the detail of the place mat, napkin ring, favor badge located on the knife, and a gift of a tussy mussy standing in their glass.

I challenge you to invite a few of your friends and create a day to remember. I assure you you won't regret it nor will they.
They will talk of it for years to come...........

"B" is for button

Just wanted to wet your palette. This is a quilt that I finished some time ago. This is very close to the style you will see in my new book that will be out in the Spring of 2011. They all have a tendency to have an old world style and look. Many of my old family photos have been put on fabric to use in these quilts. This will be the style I will be on the road teaching; so start looking for the schedule in the new year.

The Grandma's

These are two of the ladies that inspired me in my life.
The lady in the front of this photo is my grandmother, Etta Mae.
The other lady is her daughter,Juanita, my grandmother.
Both were very handy at crafting and quilting, and have inspired me
to continue my bliss in the same manner.
