My Dyslexia

Having the skill to write, spell, and punctuate has never been my strong suit. Growing up as a young child I was always nurtured to be creative and artistic which came naturally to me but I could never quite grasp written language. I now know that it's a learning disabilty with a name: DYSLEXIA.

I write from the heart and I make my best effort to get the words on the page properly but as you'll see I don't always succeed. I ask you to enjoy what I write and post but to be understanding and kind. Brian

My embroidery friend

Hi all,

One of my embroidery friends from C&T Publishing told me about her new book and it's so cool that it's given me me a reason to wipe the cobwebs off my blog and share my thoughts about her new book, Beaded Embroidery Stitching. I have been a longtime admirer of Christen Brown's work and it's my great pleasure to introduce her.

You can see this book and ALL of Christen's great work:

Anyone comparing our work would certainly not confuse the two, but Christen's perspective is inspiring and gives me plenty of food for thought. I do feel that we're kindred spirits in our exploration of crazy-quilting and embroidery.

I'm enamored with all of Christen's work but the project Faded Memories is closest to my heart. The inspiration for the piece was a vintage embroidered purse repurposed (my passion!) for future generations to cherish. You'll notice that it mirrors my color palette (go neutrals!) and that she's used tons of buttons (see the connection!?) When I saw the dragonfly, I was mind-blown with it's beauty. Take a look:

See what Chrisen's other friends are saying about this fantastic new work:

Do take a minute to write a comment on my blog to let Christen know how much you love it, and I will send one lucky winner an eBook copy of Beaded Embroidery Stitching on Monday, April 15.

So please take a look at Christen's new book and congratulate her on this great work!

(Oh, by-the-by, C&T is releasing my new book, Blended Embroidery on May 1st. Stay tuned for details!)

Hello Brian, I just found both yours and Christen's books and have enjoyed reading Blended Embroidery on Kindle, but since I much prefer real books, I'm planning get the real thing in the future. I appreciate your style and I enjoy hearing the family stories! Sylvia Fohlin in Lexington, Mass.
